Bed bug infestations can appear anywhere and in any home no matter the state or cleanliness, this is because bed bugs follow their prey home and their prey is animals and humans. Bed bugs feed on blood and will usually feed at night when their food sources are sleeping. They can however feed at any time as long as there is a food source available.

One of the best treatments of bed bugstreatment of bed bugs infestations is heat. Heat can kill bed bugs at all stages of their lives from eggs to adults. Although heat is a very good way to kill bed bug infestations you should also prepare the room before using heat treatment. Clear all clutter, get rid of all loose items you don’t need any more in sealed plastic bags, launder all clothing and linens at high temperatures and tumble dry any linens that cannot be washed on a high setting. Vacuum all areas that you suspect harbour bed bugs and get rid of the resulting dirt in a sealed plastic bag. Then carry out the heat treatment, either with a steam cleaner or by a professional exterminator. Lastly spray with pesticides designed for the eradication of bed bugs. One last step you can do is seal up and holes etc where bed bugs may live with sealant.

This treatment may have to be repeated more than once depending on the severity of the bed bug infestation.
